Mike Tyson is dealing with critical allegations of sexual assault in a brand new $5 million lawsuit that was once launched in opposition to him on January 5th.
An affidavit was filed through an nameless girl in New York’s Albany County Court. The girl alleges that she met the pro boxer at a dance club in New York In the early 1990s.
“My friend and I were hanging out with him and his limousine driver,” she states in the courtroom paperwork. “Tyson informed us about a party and asked us to sign up for him. My friend was once going to drop off her automotive, and Tyson mentioned he would pick out her up within the limousine."
However, after joining Mike in his car, the woman says he proceeded to assault her.
"I informed him no a number of times and requested him to stop, but he persisted to assault me. He then pulled my pants off and violently raped me," she continued.
The woman was able to sue on the grounds of New York’s Adult Survivors Act, which came into effect last year and gives survivors of assault a year’s time to sue their abusers.
This isn’t the first time Mike has been accused of sexual assault. He served three years in prison after he was found guilty of raping a woman in 1992. The former athlete hasn’t responded to the most recent lawsuit.
Unfortunately, Mike Tyson is the only celebrity to recently be hit with a sex abuse lawsuit. In December, a woman named Shannon Ruth filed a lawsuit against Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter.
Shannon alleges the musician assaulted her in 2001 when she was 17 years old. She claims Nick invited her onto his tour bus, then proceeded to give her a spike drink to sexually assault her.
Nick released a statement via his attorney, denying the woman’s allegations.
"Unfortunately, for a number of years now, Ms. Ruth has been manipulated into making false allegations about Nick — and those allegations have modified repeatedly and materially over the years,” the commentary learn.
However, the lawsuit has already had an affect on Nick’s profession. ABC promptly cancelled the Backstreet Boys Christmas special after the lawsuit got here to mild. The case in opposition to Nick Carter remains ongoing.
Mike Tyson’s lawsuit could also be newer, but it also stands to tarnish his profession, though only time will tell how it plays out.
